Regular Meeting of Board of Directors

The Sweetwater County Library System Board of Directors met in regular session on December 12, 2016, at White Mountain Library in Rock Springs with the following present: Tim Winger, Chair; Debbie DeBernardi, Vice Chair; Barb Van Matre & Phillip Pyzyna; Board members, Jason Grubb, Library Director; Barbara Kendall, Leora Kraft, Bryan Schutz and Michelle Maser library staff.


Winger called the meeting to order at 6:01 pm.


Approval of Agenda:

DeBernardi made a motion to approve the agenda.  VanMatre seconded and the motion carried.


Approval of Minutes:

VanMatre made a motion to approve the November regular meeting minutes.  DeBernardi seconded and the motion carried.


Financial Report and Approval of Expenditures:

The Board was emailed November and December Checking Account Activity, Budget Analysis, Balance Sheet and Void Check reports.  After a few questions about vendor payments, Pyzyna made a motion to approve the financial reports and expenditures. VanMatre seconded and the motion carried.



A thank you note and a Christmas card from Bairoil was included in the Board packets.  A LGLP ballot was included in the board packets. It was collectively decided to not vote.



A new Events Guide will be completed and forwarded to the Board soon.

County Commissioner’s Report:



Director’s Report:

Grubb highlighted the report items included in board packets: He mentioned speaking with John Canfield from Trident Energy.  He spoke about the Chamber of Commerce workshop that he attended and the presentation he made at the Golden Hour Senior Center.  He commented on staff participation in the Green River Tree Lighting.  Grubb explained the process of combining the reference and circulation desks at each library and outlined a process of hiring a replacement Library Manager.


Monthly Statistics:

Monthly statistics were provided in the Board packets.  A summary of the results are:

  • Checkouts are slightly down
  • Patron visits are steady. 
  • New Materials added is down but we have had a 17% budget cut in materials
  • Small drop in Overdrive digital content but the Hoopla service has seen an increase
  • Computer usage is down from last year because we are not currently counting Wi-Fi.
  • Less programming is being offered but attendance is good.

The date for the next regular meeting will be Monday, January 16, 2017 at Sweetwater County Library in Green River at 6:00 pm.
