A stack of fabrics, a spool of thread, and a rotary cutter that is ready to roll--these are the ingredients that make quilting a lifelong love for so many. Share the passion of quilting with others by applying to exhibit at the White Mountain Library during the 2012 Sweetwater Quilters Open.
Artists are invited to apply for the Sweetwater Quilters Open, scheduled October 15 to November 30. Quilters are invited to submit two quilts with a maximum size of 45” by 60” to be exhibited at the White Mountain Library in Rock Springs. Quilts that may be exhibited include items such as wall hangings, crib blankets, table runners, etc.
The deadline for submitting the work is October 13 at 5 p.m. at the White Mountain Library. The exhibit is open to Sweetwater County artists who are out of high school. The one-page applications are available at the library circulation desks and at the Community Fine Arts Center. Applications are also available online at the CFAC’s website www.cfac4art.com.
The Exhibits Committee of the Library System developed the guidelines for the Sweetwater Quilters Open, which is included on the application forms. Quilts should be the work of the exhibitor with information provided on the traditional quilt pattern, the source of the design, or if it is an original design. All quilts should be ready to hang with a four inch sleeve, attached rod, or other method of hanging.
The Committee meets several times a year to review applications and schedule exhibits. Artists interested in displaying their work are encouraged to submit an application for an individual exhibit. Application packets are available at any county library circulation desk and at the Community Fine Arts Center.
The Exhibits Committee is made up of community members Marylu Schock of Rock Springs, Angie Bennett, Deon Quitberg and Donna Ragsdale of Green River and library system members Debora Soule, Director of the Community Fine Arts Center; Jason Grubb, Library Manager of the White Mountain Library; Carla Hardy, Library Manager of the Sweetwater County Library; and Brittany Wells, Public Relations Specialist.
The Sweetwater Quilters Open is sponsored by the Sweetwater County Library System. For more information about the Sweetwater Quilters Open and other library events, visit the Library System web page www.sweetwaterlibraries.com or on Facebook www.facebook.com/sweetlibraries.
